About Permanent Partial Disability Benefits

Permanent partial disability benefits are workers' compensation benefits that protect you when a work injury permanently changes your life.

There are several different types of partial disability benefits under Nebraska law:

  • Temporary partial benefits: These benefits are paid when you can return to work, but under limited circumstances — like a few hours a day or at a job that pays less than your prior job.
  • Permanent partial loss of member benefits: When you have lost the use of a leg, a hand or another body part due to a work injury, you may be entitled to these benefits. The amount you are paid and the length of time during which you are paid depend on what was injured, your average weekly wage and the statutorily defined period for compensation.
  • Permanent partial to the body as a whole: When you have been seriously injured, you may be entitled to permanent partial disability, based upon your average weekly wage and percentage of your disability. Your lawyer can help you make the calculation under workers' compensation law.
